Tenancy Sustainment Officer
About This Role
We're looking for a Tenancy Sustainment Officer to join a national, award-winning supported housing charity in Leicester. The service works with people with multiple and complex needs who have lost their home or been sleeping rough, and your job is to give them the housing management support they need to get back on their feet.
Day to day, you'll assess new referrals against the scheme's criteria, help people move in and make their house a home, and coach them in the practical skills a tenancy demands — budgeting, financial inclusion, and keeping their property safe and in good order.
You'll work 37.5 hours a week in 7.5-hour days, scheduled between 8am and 10pm with some weekend working.
The role will start on temporary terms through Nexo People, moving to a permanent contract if the placement is successful. We are unable to offer visa sponsorship — you must have the right to work in the UK.
What You'll Be Doing
- Assessing new referrals to the scheme against its eligibility criteria
- Carrying out home inspections and safety checks to keep properties up to standard
- Coaching service users in budgeting and money management to build independent living skills
- Looking after rent accounts and managing arrears in line with process
- Keeping tenancy records up to date on an online CRM, from a desktop or tablet
- Spotting, monitoring and escalating safeguarding concerns in line with policy
- Upholding the charity's aims, values and ethos in everything you do
What We're Looking For
- A good understanding of the challenges facing vulnerable people and those with multiple disadvantages
- A track record of helping people who face barriers to housing, including those excluded from the housing register
- Well organised, comfortable juggling priorities, and someone who sees tasks through and sticks to process
- Hands-on skills for supporting people with the daily activities independence requires
- Experience running rent accounts and following arrears procedures
- A grounding in health and safety and keeping premises up to standard
- Experience applying safeguarding policies and procedures
- Happy to work within the values and ethos of a faith-based charity
- Willing to undergo an Enhanced (Adult Barred List) DBS check — lived experience is welcomed but not essential
- Right to work in the UK (sponsorship is not available)
Pay & Benefits
- £27,085.50 a year once permanent
- Temp-to-perm route — prove yourself in the role and secure a permanent contract
- 25 days annual leave, growing to 30 with service, plus bank holidays
- Two bonus days of leave each year for full attendance
- Medicash health cash plan
- Pension scheme and death in service cover
- Enhanced sick, maternity and paternity pay
- Option to buy and sell holiday
- Wellbeing support including an Employee Assistance Programme and premium Calm access
- Genuine training, development and progression opportunities
